More and more customers have been seeking hidden bifocals, so we created this special section. It's important to note the different types of Hidden Bifocals and that hidden bifocals are NOT no line bifocals. Be wary of any company trying to sell you "no-line" bifocals, it is mis-leading. All have one thing in common: It appears to others that you are wearing regular glasses. Of course, if anyone took a good look in bright sunlight, they may be able to tell.

  • Inner Bifocal: The bifocal is placed on the inside of the lens, so when others look at you the line appears faint if not undetectable. YOU as the wearer will be able to see the line. Cons: Some people are annoyed by the line in their peripheral vision. Pros: That line clearly demarcates where the clear part ends and the reader begins and most people find it easier for their eyes to adjust.

  • Blended Bifocal: The bifocal is also fused to the inside of the lens but the line is "smoothed" over so the transition from reading area to the clear area is gradual. Others will usually not be able to discern the bifocal area. Pros:This is a good product If the "bifocal line" bothers you when you wear them. Cons: There is a blurry area between the reader and the clear area. It's only a millimeter or so. However, many find these are more difficult to get used to.

  • Progressives: (aka No-Line) have three strengths. The strongest is on the bottom of the lens, and the weakest is on top. The transition from one strength to the next is gradual, and it will appear to others that you are wearing regular glasses. The gradient tends to be much smoother in progressives. Pros: Smoothest transition available. Cons: Not good for people who want CLEAR NO STRENGTH on top. You an view our Multi Focal Progressive Readers in this separate category.
